Founder and Executive Director of Pamoja Road Safety Initiative, a leading road safety Community Based Organization in Kenya and Member of the Alliance of NGO’S working on road safety globally. Awarded by Association of Kenya Insurers (AKI) for exemplary work in road safety and partnered with Bloomberg and Global Road Safety Partnership in RS10 program in Kenya.  Project Manager for RS10-0026 Project completed in 2013 working with Matatu drivers and school children in Thika and Naivasha. Relevant Professional Experience Pamoja Road Safety Initiative Founder and Executive Director 2009 to date Pamoja Road Safety Initiative is the most visible road safety NGO in Kenya today.
  • Admission to the global alliance of NGOs for Road safety in 2012.
  • 2012/13: Partner in Global Road Safety funded RS10 project in Thika and Naivasha working with Matatu and school children.
  • Project Manager for ‘Using graphic and comic journalism to promote safety in two target communities’. This project is part of RS10 projects in Kenya funded by Global Road Safety Partnership.
  • 2013: Developed and facilitated a 4 days’ road safety training for over 400 children affiliated to the International Christian Centre for their August holiday camp.

Lucas Munene is a seasoned leader specializing in road safety, strategic operations, and organizational excellence with over 12 years of progressive experience. As the Founder and Program Manager of the Pamoja Road Safety Initiative (PRSI), he has driven impactful
interventions in road safety management, collaborating with government agencies, civil society, and international organizations to advance sustainable mobility solutions. His expertise spans
program design, policy development, monitoring and evaluation, capacity building, and multi- stakeholder engagement, supported by advanced international training from institutions such as WHO, Johns Hopkins University, and FedEx Corporation- through the Global Alliance of NGOs for road safety.

In addition to his road safety leadership, Lucas is an accomplished strategic general manager with a proven record of accomplishment in transforming corporate and community-based organizations into high-performing and financially sustainable establishments. He excels in strategic leadership, operations management, and team development, with extensive experience managing diverse portfolios, including hospitality and real estate assets with a focus on service excellence, profitability, and regulatory compliance. His leadership fosters cultures of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Lucas holds an MBA in Strategic Management a Bachelor of Arts in Literature and Sociology from the University of Nairobi, Several diplomas and certificates in road safety training. His
professional development includes fellowships and certifications from global bodies specializing in road safety, health and safety, leadership, and advocacy.

Lucas combines a resolute, community-rooted approach to road safety with strategic management capabilities, positioning him to deliver measurable impact and thought leadership in both the road safety sector and organizational excellence arenas.

Mijide Kemoli
Creative & Innovation Lead.
Mijide Kemoli is a multidisciplinary designer who centres her work on causes and stories that are close to her heart, including road safety awareness and education. Through her craft, she has designed illustrated safety manuals for children as well as a fun board game that allows players to question the road culture in Nairobi and any negative behaviour they have that may be contributing to the overall safety problem. Mijide is also a member of the Global Youth Coalition for Road Safety and is a trained and certified youth road safety facilitator and advocate under YOURS.

Purity Mwaniki
Communication & Events Officer.
Purity Mwaniki is an evidence based and data driven road safety
practitioner and a trained advocate with a clear grasp of current road safety best practice including safe systems approach, sustainable healthy mobility and impact evaluation.

She is passionate about the role of sustainable mobility as an alleviator of poverty and enabler for economic growth and how different stakeholders
can build dynamic relationships to achieve safe and sustainable mobility.

Here are some things she does very well;

  • Advocacy -Strategic planning for advocacy activities through power mapping, networking and mobilization.
  • Road safety training/capacity building.
  • Paralegal- solid understanding of legal matters.
  • Data collection and analysis.
  • Communication management through target message design, review and adoption process and commissioning.

Gladys Maina
Digital Transformation Adviser

With over 13 years of global experience in technology transformation and project management across Africa, Europe, and Asia-Pacific, she brings exceptional expertise in driving complex digital initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and organizational capacity.

At Pamoja Road Safety Initiative, Gladys leverages her skills to support advocacy, digital resource mobilization, and fundraising efforts aimed at improving road safety and enforcing policies for road users. She plays a crucial role in advancing collaboration within the Global Alliance of NGOs for Road Safety, which represents over 200 member organizations in 90 countries.

Glady’s extensive background includes establishing Centers of Excellence for PMO operations, implementing change management frameworks, and delivering mission-critical systems aligned  with strategic goals.

As a champion for women in technology, Gladys mentors emerging professionals through initiatives like Africa Women in Tech and has contributed to major events such as the Women Transforming Technology Conference. Her strong record of accomplishment in digital inclusion, innovation, and capacity building underscores her commitment to technology-driven social impact.

Eng. Cyril Kitiwa
Cyril Kitiwa is a dedicated Civil Engineer and passionate Road Safety Advocate based in Mombasa, Kenya. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) and is a registered engineer with the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK). Cyril is also an active member of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK).

With extensive practical experience in the design and supervision of road and infrastructure projects, Cyril has contributed to organizations such as the Kenya National Highways Authority
(KeNHA) and the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA). His engineering background enables him to address road safety challenges from both technical and community-oriented perspectives.

Cyril has strengthened his commitment to safer mobility through specialized training with the International Road Assessment Programme (iRAP). His focus includes advocating for vulnerable road users like pedestrians, cyclists, and motorcyclists.

His areas of expertise encompass road safety awareness and education campaigns targeting communities and schools, youth-centered programs encouraging responsible road use,
infrastructure safety assessments, and data collection on high-risk road areas. He provides technical input aimed at improving road design and promoting safer infrastructure. Cyril actively engages in collaborative efforts that merge engineering solutions with behavioral change strategies to reduce road crashes.

As a Champion through Pamoja Road Safety Initiative, Cyril believes road safety is a collective responsibility and remains committed to collaborating with individuals and organizations to create safer roads for all users.

Yvonne Mwangi
Financial Management Adviser/Board

Yvonne Mwangi is a seasoned finance and operations specialist with 17 years of cross-sector experience in financial management, project accounting, operations oversight, and donor compliance. As a Volunteer Road Safety Champion with Pamoja Road Safety Initiative, she provides strategic finance advisory that strengthens the organization’s internal controls, financial planning, and accountability systems to support safer mobility programs.

A trusted adviser, Yvonne has a strong record of accomplishment in financial forecasting, budgeting, donor reporting, and establishing controlled environments that ensure compliance and sustainable resource use. She brings extensive experience working with major donors including the Ford Foundation, UNDP, Open Society Foundations, and Hivos. Her expertise is instrumental in enhancing fiduciary integrity within Pamoja’s road safety projects.

Yvonne’s analytical mindset, operational acumen, and dedication to public safety enable her to help Pamoja develop sound financial structures, reinforcing the organization’s mission through disciplined financial stewardship and evidence-based advisory.

Patrick Kinyanjui

Patrick Kinyanjui is an experienced road safety and development professional currently serving as the Regional Coordinator, Africa, at the Global Alliance of NGOs for Road Safety. Since joining the Alliance Secretariat in June 2017 as a Program Manager, he has become a central focal point in driving the effective implementation of the Africa Chapter’s strategy and work plan. Patrick ensures that the Alliance’s offerings remain responsive and relevant to member needs by coordinating feedback across the continent and aligning it with emerging global opportunities. His work spans communication, research, capacity building, advocacy, campaigning, policy engagement, and fundraising—supporting members to strengthen their impact and visibility in road safety.

Before joining the Global Alliance, Patrick volunteered with the Pamoja Road Safety Initiative (PRSI), where he played a key role in advancing community-based road safety interventions. He was instrumental in the implementation of the RS10-0026 Project, contributing to its planning, coordination, and on-the-ground execution. His commitment to grassroots advocacy and evidence-driven action helped strengthen PRSI’s programs and partnerships during the UN Decade of Action for Road Safety.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Science Education from Kenyatta University, a Master of Science from the University of Washington (Seattle), and a postgraduate diploma in Community Health from AMREF International University. Patrick is based in Nairobi, Kenya, where he continues to champion safer, healthier, and more resilient communities across Africa.

Vince Munene
Data Science Student | Youth Road Safety Advocate | Emerging Tech-for-Good Leader

Vince Munene is a University Data Science student  and a lifelong road safety advocate whose work reflects a powerful blend of purpose, curiosity, and innovation.
Growing up in a family committed to safer roads, Vince learned early on the value of service, responsibility, and community impact. Over the years, he has become a passionate voice for youth involvement in road safety, contributing to awareness campaigns, peer education, and grassroots initiatives that promote safer behaviors among young people.

Driven by a belief that technology can transform society, Vince is carving a unique path at the intersection of data science and public good. He is especially inspired by the potential of data analytics, visualization, and predictive modelling to strengthen road safety systems, improve crash reporting, and guide evidence-based interventions. His vision is to harness data not just to understand challenges, but also to design smarter, safer, and more equitable mobility solutions for all road users.

Vince represents a new generation of tech-enabled change makers—young leaders who combine innovation with empathy, and analytics with advocacy. Through his academic work and community engagement, he continues to champion safer roads while shaping a future where technology serves humanity with purpose and integrity.

Kayla Munene
Senior School Student | Youth Road Safety Champion | Environment Advocate

Kayla Munene is a senior school student whose lifelong commitment to road safety and the environment reflects her deep belief in a safer, cleaner, and more compassionate world. From a
young age, Kayla has been an active voice in youth road safety campaigns, inspiring her peers to practice responsibility, empathy, and care on the roads. Her leadership in school safety programs and community outreach has made her a recognizable advocate for the wellbeing of children and young people.

Beyond road safety, Kayla is a passionate environmental steward dedicated to protecting Kenya’s natural heritage. She champions climate awareness, sustainable living, and youth-led environmental action—motivating her generation to take ownership of their future.

In November 2025, her exceptional commitment was awarded when she won 1 st prize at the FLAMA — First Lady Mazingira Awards in her category at a national ceremony held at State House, Nakuru. This award celebrated her outstanding contribution to environmental
conservation and her ability to inspire change among her peers.

Kayla continues to embody the spirit of service and leadership, standing as a beacon of hope for a safer, greener, and more sustainable Kenya. She represents a rising generation determined to
create lasting impact—one action, one voice, and one community at a time.

Antony Wugoma

Antony Wugoma is a results-driven Program Manager and Software Developer with a strong track record in designing, implementing, and scaling high-impact programs in EdTech, STEM education, coding, digital skills, and AI literacy. He brings a rare blend of strategic program leadership and hands-on technical expertise, enabling him to translate ideas into sustainable, technology-enabled solutions.

Antony currently serves as Program Manager at PwaniTeknowgalz, where he leads innovative programs that expand access to technology education, empower learners—especially young people and women—and build future-ready digital skills. In this role, he oversees program planning, partnerships, curriculum development, stakeholder engagement, and performance monitoring, ensuring measurable outcomes and long-term impact.

Notably, he is the developer behind the Pamoja Road Safety Initiative website, a platform that amplifies advocacy, mobilizes stakeholders, and supports community engagement for improved road safety outcomes.
